LSU Head Coach Brian Kelly Goes on Scathing Rant Following Loss to USC

Under Brian Kelly’s leadership, the LSU Tigers have not yet been victorious in the first game of the season.

Kelly confessed after Sunday’s 27-20 loss to the USC Trojans that he is not doing his job as the head coach of the Tigers. During his angry post-game tirade, he slammed the table as he yelled about the errors his team continues making. Kelly’s squad has now lost three consecutive games in Week 1 of the season.

Kelly said, “We’re sitting here again, sitting here again talking about the same things,” referring to the fact that there are certain individuals who have performed to the best of their abilities tonight. When you have an opponent who is in a position to put them away, making sure you don’t finish is important. On the other hand, what we are doing on the sidelines will make us feel as if the game is ended. Moreover, I am so enraged by it that I have no choice but to take action in response to it. “As a coach, I am not conducting myself in an adequate manner.”

Kelly also admitted that this was the very first time he had ever been angry with his team since he took over the position of head coach at LSU in 2022.

He made reference to the ten penalties that the Tigers committed, which resulted in a loss of 99 yards of field position. It was brought to his attention that the defense was not playing football in a complementary manner with the offense (LSU had a total offense of 421 yards and allowed 447 yards on defense).

In addition, he brought out the fact that LSU failed to make the most of its opportunities to put USC out of its misery at the conclusion of the game, notably on the Trojans’ last touchdown drive, during which they traveled 75 yards on eight plays and scored the touchdown that gave them the lead with just eight seconds remaining in the game.

Kelly has been able to salvage ten-win seasons in each of his first two years at LSU, but it seems likely that he will be working under a lot more pressure this season. It is possible that Kelly’s seat may get quite hot if she suffers another two losses.
